PSO2 JP has only release together with the elimination of buy meseta pso2 some RNG development elements that are stupid. The game looks fairly bad as Android and Vita hardware is targeted by it but it’s serviceable. Games such as Destiny Warframe, and Dragon Hunter World have come out there are much newer PSO-likes. The largest thing about PSO2 is the way good and large the collaborations are in comparison to other games. We do not know whether the Western variant will find all of the collabs that could very well kill the match because this isn’t 2001 where a localized Japanese MMORPG might have articles disparities and get away with it. So time will tell, they have been vague about this and deceitful.
I played with the JP version for close to 90 hours and could not find the appeal. You spend the majority of your time just oneshotting mobs in free fields. Then you sit around awaiting crisis quests to spawn which are again braindead simple because everyone’s equipment is so absurdly strong you’ll barely be able to hit anything. They rush through at lightspeed, melting anything in their own way. SEGA added some EQs where you are forced to pilot a mecha that does not really do a great deal of damage just so new players could find a chance at hitting on things. There are many distinct types of quests with vague titles such as buster quests, showcased quests etc and you’ll have to spend ages on wikis hoping to figure out which of these are worth doing. Most of them are incredibly dull, the only ones worth doing would be the ones with real rewards.
Having to find discs to learn abilities is a fairly stupid mechanic imo and the hotbar system is absolutely dreadful. I really don’t get why I can not just have several hotbars onscreen rather than having to scroll through subpalettes and palettes and shit. It’s a UI nightmare that does not appeal to anybody. The system sucks. The party UI is minuscule and considerably can’t be customized by you. Can’t put buffs over icons to inform what they do. No punishment for dying because you can respawn like nothing happened. Because is so simple that you need to say anything, conversation occurs in the lobby.
The system is convoluted and you’ll again need to spend ages sifting via wikis and youtube movies to understand it. The simple fact that there are new-type and old-type weapons using two different ways to improve (mill ) them is foolish. Caps and affixes are unintuitive unless you have a manual. Collection files are pretty dull since they simply boil down to”spam more EQs” that is probably what you were already doing.
Each time you kill a boss that they drop a great deal of shit and explode like a pinata. As a beginner it’s hard to know what’s well worth picking up and what is not. I guess they could be vendored by you to an NPC? Flat cap unlock quests are extremely annoying. Do I need to get a 13* +35 weapon simply to level past Lv75? It’s just a random hurdle thrown into slow your own progress. Who really finds these fun? Most quests (client orders) are only kill or Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta fetch quests. They are all incredibly dull, although there are many.
